Common Sunless Tanning Problems and How to Fix Them
January 28th, 2006There are a large number of sunless tanning options. Many of those sunless tanning options include lotions, gels, foams, and mists. All of these sunless tanning options are a safe and convenient way to obtain a tan. Many of these products are popular because they can be done at home and without the help of a professional; however, there are number of problems that an individual using a sunless tanning product may run into.
A common problem that many sunless tanners run into, especially after using sunless tanning lotions, is that their hands may have turned orange. Orange hands develop when an individual uses their hands to apply a sunless tanning product, but fail to wash them afterwards. When sunless tanning lotions get into the creases of a hand they are likely to develop an odd looking orange color. Hydrogen peroxide is an easy and safe way to remove the orange color. To prevent orange hands from developing individuals are encouraged to wear gloves while applying their sunless tanning lotion or remember to at least wash their handy directly after the application process.
Either directly after applying sunless tanning products or a few hours afterwards there are some individuals who may develop a rash or their skin may turn red. This is often because an allergic reaction occurred. It is important that individuals who experience an allergic reaction to sunless tanning products stop using the product right away. It may also be a good idea to visit a physician for a checkup and determine exactly what the ingredient inside the sunless tanning product was that caused the allergic reaction.
The most common problem that develops with sunless products is orange streaks. This problem is less common than it used to be; however, it still do occur. Streaks can occur with tanning lotions, gels, foams, and even sprays. Orange streaks may develop because the sunless tanning product was unevenly applied. If uneven application is the cause individuals are encouraged to use a cloth or gloves next time to help evenly apply the lotion.
There is usually an easy solution to all of the problems that may develop when using sunless tanning products. The best way to treat or even prevent a problem from occurring is by reading the directions on all sunless tanning products before using them. Make yourself aware of common sunless tanning mistakes and you will be less likely to make them.
